Adventures at the Auction House, January 12, 2008

 I’ve heard businessmen say, “Don’t work harder, work smarter.” I like that. Sloth is my deadly sin of choice, and I take any chance I get to not have to work hard. Being lazy makes me efficient. I want the job done, but done right and as quickly as possible. Sometimes, despite planning and good intentions, life doesn’t work that way.

Adventures at the Auction House, January 1, 2008

I’m not superstitious. Just because my parking space is open at the grocery store doesn’t mean everything I want will be on sale and I won’t have to stand in line. I don’t have to drink coffee out of my special cups in order to have a good day. It’s okay (really) to write in a journal with a pen other than my special pen (and if they don’t quit taking my special pens, I have a New Year’s prediction….) Oh, and spotting an owl in the daytime is not a precursor to disaster. That’s just creepy.

            This was one of those weeks when I was really glad the old man didn’t go with me to the auction house. He was on his annual hunting trip. He needed the break and had a good time, even though he didn’t shoot anything. Apparently all the deer and elk were conducting traffic control on the interstate rather than romping around in the forest.

I apologize for not writing something funny about my auction adventures. Don’t feel real funny now. You see, a baby died this week.
